This customer was sent to us by another jeweller for our expertise.
This piece is a technically complicated spring-loaded bracelet that needed careful repair.
With old pieces like this, there is so much that can potentially go wrong; a hollow piece with stone set turquoise needed laser repair rather than a flame solder as the stones would break under the heat and would have needed to be removed entirely before the repair which is a very expensive alternative.
There is also the possibility of solder flooding the moving parts, which would irreversibly ruin the bracelet. For this reason, we used a laser welder which is an excellent machine for complicated and isolated repair work.
The customer was delighted with the work we had done as she had previously been told it was unrepairable.
