Repairing and Conserving
Shown here is an 18ct yellow gold and platinum Sapphire and Diamond ring.
As you can see, the underneath of this ring (referred to as the ‘Bezel’) has been worn away over the years. This type of wear and tear is usually caused by the abrasion of another ring worn next to it.
Whenever we receive a repair or part remodel we always endeavour to conserve as much of the original piece as possible while working to replicate the missing parts.
The top of the ring is in very good condition and the stones are secure, which enables us to preserve this part while working on the bottom. The same goes for the band (referred to as the ‘shank’) which boasts its original hallmarks.
